Porto Business School welcomes Imperial College students for immersive program on Global Health Management
From April 7 to 11, Porto Business School had the privilege of hosting a group of Master’s students from Imperial College London — one of the world’s top 10 business schools — for an immersive program on Global Health Management in Portugal.
This intensive experience offered valuable insights into how Portugal is shaping the future of healthcare through innovation, strategic thinking, and international collaboration.
Exploring healthcare excellence in Portugal
Over the course of the week, participants visited some of Portugal’s leading healthcare institutions, including the Portuguese Oncology Institute (IPO), CUF Hospital, pharmaceutical company BIAL, and digital health innovator Sword Health. Each visit showcased remarkable advancements in patient care, medical research, and digital health solutions.
The program also featured engaging lectures by health sector leaders, covering key topics such as the role of artificial intelligence in healthcare innovation, investment in medical technology, and the evolution of Portugal’s National Health Service.
Porto: an emerging hub for global health innovation
Throughout the week, the program highlighted the city of Porto as a growing hub for medical innovation and entrepreneurship. With a strong public-private healthcare model and a dynamic startup ecosystem, Porto is positioning itself as a benchmark in international health management.
Beyond the classroom: a cultural and professional experience
In addition to the academic component, students immersed themselves in local culture, exploring the city of Porto, its gastronomy, and vibrant atmosphere. These experiences allowed for a deeper connection with the country and its context beyond the classroom.
Shaping global-ready health leaders
More than a study trip, this initiative sparked meaningful discussions on the challenges and opportunities of global healthcare management. It also reinforced the importance of collaboration between leading institutions such as Imperial College London and Porto Business School in preparing agile, conscious leaders with a global perspective on health systems.
