In the 2023/2024 academic year, hundreds of faculty members taught thousands of students from different nationalities, raising the quality and diversity of the learning experience.
On June 5, Porto Business School hosted the first edition of the Teaching Excellence Faculty Awards — a ceremony dedicated to recognizing teaching excellence and the real impact generated by its faculty, both inside and outside the classroom.
More than just a moment of academic recognition, the event was also a celebration of creativity, inspiration, and the symbolic power of teaching. Art played a central role in how the School chose to represent this collective tribute. The ceremony began with a live musical performance, creating an atmosphere of emotional engagement and connection. At the same time, outside the School, a guest artist painted a wall in real time — a work in progress symbolizing shared knowledge, the lasting impact of educators, and the collective role of the academic community in building the future.
The event also featured remarks from Dean José Esteves and Head of Faculty Ana Côrte-Real, who highlighted their pride in the faculty’s dedication and reinforced the essential role of teaching in Porto Business School’s mission. The program also included heartfelt testimonies from honored professors, such as Professor José Luís Alvim, who shared his experience and deep connection to the PBS community.
With over half of the faculty evaluated scoring above 4.5 out of 5, this first edition reflected the culture of academic excellence that sets the School apart — in a setting of recognition, sharing, and celebration.
