Porto Business School strengthens ethical leadership and organizational culture

Date
22 of July, 2025

The new approach includes topics such as digital ethics, artificial intelligence, and social media, with active participation from the PBS community.

On June 12, 2025, the Ethics Committee of Porto Business School held its first official meeting of the current term — a decisive step in reinforcing the school’s commitment to integrity, accountability, and transparency.

The session gathered all standing members — Luís Garrido Marques, Manuel Mota Freitas, Margarida Pedrosa, Susana Leão, Antonieta Silva, Cláudia Conceição Silva, and Filipe Marques de Almeida — to conduct a preliminary review of the PBS Code of Ethics and Conduct, share strategic updates, and define next steps.

A key point on the agenda was the proposal for a comprehensive revision of the Code of Ethics, focused on three main areas:

Emerging topics: including digital ethics, artificial intelligence, and social media conduct;
Wider inclusion: expanding the Code’s relevance to alumni, suppliers, and other key stakeholders in the PBS ecosystem;
Community engagement: incorporating ethics into welcome sessions and encouraging continuous feedback through regular consultation processes.

A new version of the Code of Ethics and Conduct is now in development. It will first be reviewed internally and then opened for consultation across the broader Porto Business School community.

In parallel, the Ethics Committee is preparing to launch a series of awareness initiatives and internal campaigns to embed ethical thinking into the school’s culture and day-to-day operations.

With this initiative, Porto Business School reinforces its position as a leading business school, committed to developing responsible leaders with strong values, ethical awareness, and a positive impact on society.
