Fostering Cultural Integration and Community from Day One
On Saturday, February 15, 2025, Porto Business School hosted the latest edition of the Welcome International Students Event, marking the beginning of an exciting academic journey for 45 new international students. Coming from countries as diverse as Nigeria, Brazil, Morocco, Iceland, and Peru, these students were welcomed with a day filled with culture, connection, and community spirit.
The event kicked off with a visit to the World of Discoveries Museum, located in the historic center of Porto. Students had the chance to explore Portugal’s rich history, with a particular focus on the Age of Discoveries, gaining valuable insights into the cultural backdrop of their new home.
The day continued with a dinner at Alfândega Douro, where many students experienced the iconic francesinha for the first time—a must-try dish in Porto’s culinary scene. The relaxed setting encouraged conversations, story-sharing, and the formation of new friendships, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all.
Alumni from Porto Business School also joined the event, offering support and sharing firsthand experiences that helped new students feel more at ease and connected.
More than just a welcome event, this initiative reinforced Porto Business School’s commitment to cultural integration and delivering a holistic academic experience, where a sense of community and belonging starts from day one.
