Biography
Graduated and PhD, Full Professor at the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the University of Porto since 2018, Américo Afonso holds additional training in Hospital Management from Porto Business School and in Quality Management and Healthcare Auditing from CESPU. He has extensive experience in hospital administration, having chaired Centro Hospitalar do Médio Ave, Hospital da Misericórdia de Paredes, and Hospital de São Marcos – Braga.
In academia, he has held various positions at the University of Porto and the Faculty of Dental Medicine, authoring over 50 scientific publications.
He served as president of the Portuguese Society of Stomatology and Dental Medicine and of the Ethics and Disciplinary Council of the Portuguese Dental Association. He also serves in local government as a Member and Secretary of the Municipal Assembly of Braga since 2021.
