Bernardo Caldas, Data science & AI Leader, is the invited speaker of the seminar: "Bias and Fairness in Decision Making with AI", an event related to the postgraduate programme in Business Intelligence and Analytics. The event takes place this 20th of December, at 18h30.
There has been a lot of buzz in the news and social media about unintended bias in AI systems being used nowadays that can affect individuals unfairly based on gender, race, age, among other possible characteristics. Nevertheless, the discussions are still very superficial and very little action has been taken to understand what happens across different domains in practice, and what tradeoffs and possible solutions should be used. In this talk, we are going to discuss how to think about bias and fairness when building and deploying AI systems for decision making both in public and private sectors.
